其实这消息在2008.12.18就在网上公开了.但是没想到动作这么快.
到上周,已经涉及到亚太区业务.
根据网上资料显示: Pentair在08年关闭部分工厂并把相关业务转移到包括中国苏州在内的其他工厂后,仍然面临巨大的压力.其08年业绩已经从年初预期的$840M下降到$770M..
目前Pentair在全球裁减1600人(约占全球总雇员的10%左右),冻结薪水及雇员编制(即停止招聘新员工),并计划在09年上半年里再关闭7家工厂.继续把相关的生产业务转移到低成本的其他工厂(包括中国苏州的工厂).从而在08-09两年里关闭的工厂数量达到15家.

根据企业运营的惯例,今年5-9月份由GE并入的R&C Filter(民用及商用过滤集团)将会是这次裁员的重灾区之一.
跟我们最相关的就是:Autotrol自1992年进入中国市场,经历Osmonics-->GE-->Pentair几次收购重组,终于面临在中国甚至亚太区完全消失的窘境...考虑到产品销售,配件供应以及技术支持,尽管国内不乏对产品熟悉的技术人员,但与之相关的产品和业务将会受到严重打击甚至完全退出中国市场.
按目前的情况,全球经济在2009年10月份之前看不到明显的好转迹象..中国将会与其他经济危机重灾区一样面临实体经济的大幅度实际下滑.10年前的经济状况将在一定程度上重演.
我们行业内在过去5-8年里尽管经历了高速增长,但是在这个增长过程中,行内的多数销售公司及工程公司并没有真正形成好的风气,盲目压价成为规则.从而大幅降低项目利润/服务能力及企业生存源泉..这将在一定程度上成为未来2-3年里部分企业关闭的根本原因之一.
民用市场的增长速度将会明显下降.考虑到房地产行业的滞后性,目前看来这种下降至少将会持续到2010年初期.
希望大家可以坚持过2009-2010两年.等到整体经济复苏的时节.

Pentair cutting 1,600 jobs, 110 in MN

Citing rapidly declining global economic conditions, Pentair Inc. announced it will cut approximately 1,600 jobs, or 10 percent of its work force, including 110 in Minnesota.
The Golden Valley-based manufacturer, which, among other things, provides systems and products used to move, treat and store water, said Thursday it expects fourth-quarter sales of $770 million, down from previous estimates of $840 million. Pentair (NYSE: PNR) cited major volume declines in the company’s technical products business as well as some declines in its water business.
The elimination of 1,600 positions is expected to save the company more than $75 million. The company also has frozen hiring and salaries. In addition, Pentair announced it will operate 15 fewer facilities by the end of 2009 than it had at the end of 2007.
Chairman and CEO Randy Hogan said in a statement, “The speed and impact of sluggish demand in global markets and consumer spending has had deeper impact on our orders and sales volumes than we previously expected. … We believe additional actions are necessary to ensure our operations are realistically preparing for challenging global industrial, commercial and residential markets in the coming periods.”
Eight of the 15 plants were closed in 2008, the remaining seven will close in the first half of 2009, said company spokeswoman Rachael Jarosh.
None of the plant closures are in Minnesota, meaning the 110 job cuts here are related to volume declines and not facility closures directly, Jarosh said. Thirty-nine of those employees took voluntary buyouts and all were offered severance, she said. The Minnesota layoffs were split nearly equally between hourly and salaried employees.
